It’s a little late, but Happy New Year anyways from us at Palmetto Pursuit! It’s a new year and we have so many things we’re excited about this year. Last year was good, but it was slow and full of lessons learned for us here at Palmetto Pursuit. If 2018 was a year of lessons learned and “figuring things out” for us, 2019 is going to be the year we really set it off around here at Palmetto Pursuit. What do we have planned for this year you ask? Well, we’re going to tell you!
First, you’ve probably already noticed the new logo design. We wanted something simpler, but meaningful that everyone could identify with. Our last logo, featuring the fish and buck, made us feel like we had pigeon holed ourselves to just those two outdoor activities. The truth is Palmetto Pursuit is dedicated to the pursuit of all things outdoors and that’s what we want to portray. The logo encompasses elements of water, mountains, forest and more! Can you identify the different symbolism?
Now, let’s talk about our apparel line. Up to this point we’ve been utilizing a company called Printful to print on demand and drop ship our apparel. This allowed us to provide a wide variety of apparel options without having to maintain any inventory. While this kept us from having to make any major upfront investments in inventory, the overhead costs and fees made it difficult to justify. Additionally, this method kept us removed from the sales and shipping processes and we want to be more involved in the customer experience. Currently, we’re working with a local company to bring 4 initial shirt designs to market with physical inventory. While this will initially mean fewer apparel offerings, we believe we will be able to provide better, faster and more personal customer service as well as higher quality products. This process will also include a revamp of our online store, so keep an eye out for that!
Next up for 2019 is more content, particularly video content on YouTube. We experimented with some things last year and aside from a few videos spent most of the year working through what exactly we want to utilize as far as equipment and software and how we wanted to present the content to you. Was that the right move? Probably not, and we probably should have put more content out, but we want to bring you our very best. Plus we just got crazy busy the last half of the year (My family and I bought and sold a house and moved across town and Matt is slammed work travel and finishing work for a degree). I mean, we are human after all! So this year, you can look forward to more gear and product reviews, videos of hunting trips and adventures and coverage of trade shows and other major events. If you haven’t subscribed to our YouTube channel go check it out so you can make sure you’re getting the new stuff when it starts to hit in the coming weeks.
Piggybacking on the content topic, we’ve decided to bring you a PodCast in 2019. The details are still being worked out regarding formatting and such but it’s in the works and we think you’ll enjoy it. Once we’re able to provide more detailed information we’ll be sure to update everyone. Until then keep your eyes and ears open and shoot us a message with any ideas about topics you’d like to hear discussed or covered.
Also, in 2019, and as I alluded to above, we plan to attend more industry trade shows not only to provide coverage of new products and technology but also as vendors ourselves. Our very first trade show comes in March at the Palmetto Sportsman’s Classic and we’re very excited to bring our apparel and products to showcase and to network with industry participants. We’re excited about the opportunities that present themselves throughout a year and cannot wait to get more involved in industry events and trade shows to bring Palmetto Pursuit to the masses in a physical presence.
Lastly, this fall Matt and I plan to embark on our first back country elk hunt. We are still working through the details of location which will then lead to the licenses and tags, but we have committed to this and are already preparing the best we can. We have several months until the fall arrives but we’re both training physically and continuing to shoot our bows as we will be attempting a bow hunt. Be on the look out for content focused around our process of getting prepared for and heading out on this elk hunt and if you have any advice or information that might help us, don’t hesitate to share!!
In closing, we want to say we appreciate all the support we’ve had and continue to receive. We look forward to bringing you more informative, useful and engaging outdoor content this year as well as fresh new products. Thanks for sticking around and remember, whatever your pursuit is….. Get Up, Get After It!!
